ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has transferred a pivotal case to a yet-to-be-formed constitutional bench, marking the first such transfer under the new judicial framework. This decision was made during a hearing on Wednesday, which focused on the reinstatement of seven employees from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources who had been dismissed from their positions.
The case was reviewed by a three-member bench led by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, alongside Justices Ayesha A Malik and Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi. After a thorough examination of the case records, Justice Mansoor highlighted that the matter raises fundamental constitutional questions. In light of this, the court has mandated that such cases will now be addressed by a specialized constitutional bench established under the 26th Amendment.
