UN Secretery general Antonio Guterres arrived today to witness flood-affected Tehsil Usta Muhammad in Jafarabad district of Balochistan.
PM Shahbaz Sharif briefed the Secretary General on the ongoing relief and rehabilitation steps taken by the Federal and provincial governments.
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres once again called for the international community to step up in helping Pakistan recover from the devastating effects of the flesh floods in Pakistan. He termed the flood devastation as ‘’unimaginable’’.
Prime Minister shabaz requested the international community to support the country in the rehabilitation process as Pakistan has already incurred a loss of more than 12 Billion Dollars.
The PM said that reaching out with essentials to the affected people and areas in the remote areas of Balochistan was a herculean task. He further informed the UNSG that flesh flooding has destroyed roads network and railway infrastructure and damaged all connecting bridges of the province.
Later, PM Shehbaz and the UNSG interacted with the flood affected in tent city Usta Muhammad, Jafferabad.
